I am dedicated to maintaining the high quality of Certification that DRI Canada ensures for DRI Certified Professionals, and I am committed to continuously improving the education DRI Canada offers. I am passionate about making DRI Canada an inclusive certification body—one that truly reflects and represents its Certified Professionals.
During my last term on the board, I have actively advocated for greater involvement from our community—encouraging more people to participate in their certification body and in DRI learning events. I believe this engagement is what makes DRI Canada stronger. Over the past three years, I’ve dedicated significant time, passion, and effort to DRI Canada's strategic planning process. I hope that those engaged with DRI Canada have noticed a positive shift in outreach and involvement as a result.
If re-elected, I will continue working on our strategic plan, with a focus on fostering an inclusive and welcoming environment—one that invites professionals to learn, engage, and grow within the Risk Management and Business Continuity industry, and to take an active role in their certification body.
My goals are to contribute to DRI Canada being:
an inclusive representation of its Certified Professionals,
a certifying body known for offering highly valued BCM industry certifications, and
an organization that promotes DRI Canada Certification as both a career asset for consultants and self-employed professionals, and a sought-after qualification by employers.
I am a frequent collaborator with other DRI Certified Professionals and am passionate about life-long learning. I’ve worked in the Business Continuity industry at a Canadian bank, a global insurance company, and currently serve as a Director in the financial sector in the Toronto area. Before my 15+ years in the corporate world, I owned my own business and worked in small and medium-sized enterprises.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, dedicating time to DRI, and being outdoors.
As a Certified Business Continuity Professional, my continued focus is to ensure leaders are prepared for major business interruptions through continuity programs and crisis leadership. I continue to work with many teams to create continuity and recovery plans that ensure progressive and sustained operations in government, First Nations, and private entities locally
and abroad. Additionally, I have served as both EOC and Recovery Director during incidents in Western Canada including the 2010 Medicine Hat Flood, 2011 Slave Lake Wildfire, 2012 Shaw Internet Outage, 2013 Alberta Floods, and 2022 Atmospheric River Event in British Columbia.
My initial training and certification from DRI Canada provided the foundation to create a business continuity plan for one of the largest municipalities in Canada. As a result, the City of Calgary was able to recover more effectively from various disaster events. These practical experiences led to an opportunity in developing international continuity management standards (ISO 22301, ISO 24518, CSA1600), which led to the position of Water Sector Chair for the creation of our National Critical Infrastructure Framework and Pandemic Plan.
Having completed the full cycle of writing business continuity program standards, implementing within corporations, and applying those elements during disasters, I feel ready to help discuss and facilitate both theoretical and practical knowledge to those seeking certification and careers in the continuity and resiliency profession.
If elected Western Region Director, I will work with the Board and membership to create a strong national network of professionals while promoting the value of DRI certification.
