It refers to the business operations required for normal daily delivery of goods or services

Understanding the business impact so that the minimum services needed to meet the needs of the people following a disaster are met.

For example…in the case of a power outage at government departments that issue veteran cheques the service priorities must be known and strategies in place to ensure that the service of issuing cheques is not disrupted.

It is related to data only and describes the tolerance to lost data
