Telus Communications Receives Two Awards From DRI Canada
Telus Communications receives the 2024 Response and Recovery Award in recognition of its ability to meet the challenges presented by a recent disaster within the previous 12 months.
In 2024, Telus faced multiple crises, including the Crowdstrike information technology (IT) outage and new wildfires in Western Canada. Just as the company was putting the Crowdstrike emergency behind it this summer, wildfires erupted in Jasper, Alberta, consuming a third of the town.
Telus activated an emergency response team from July 24 to August 19, coordinating a nationwide response. Despite being stretched thin, Telus was able to protect its telecommunications network, restore services, and support the community in Jasper.
Telus is also the winner of this year’s Preparedness and Mitigation award. This award recognizes individuals and organizations that exhibit exceptional commitment in proactively reducing, minimizing, or avoiding impacts from business disruptions.
Telus receives the 2024 Preparedness and Mitigation award for making significant investments in future-proofing to adapt to climate change, network protection, and emergency response.
In all, Telus has allocated $125 million over five years towards these efforts. This substantial investment aligns with Telus’ core values, emphasizing its commitment to continuous improvement.
